"We organized a K-12 Charter School here in Colorado, and adopted the [Getty-Dubay™] Italic Handwriting series.
My experience was that children who had the advantage of this instruction ended up with legible handwriting, improved eye/hand coordination and associated reduced reading impairment, and improved achievement scores in language skills and math.
I attribute these results to both the time made available for other academic pursuits rather than learning an entire new character set for cursive handwriting, as well as the visual and manual skills learned through methodical practice of regular left/right eye/hand motion resulting in a pleasing accomplishment for the student.
